The Daddies Army's Ultimate Comeback. Pt.2

"We are Chennai boys and making all the noise everywhere we go"

We reclaimed our throne, and boy did we do it with style! If that triumph was anything to go by, it was the most CSK-esque performance ever. We were languishing down the table last season and have returned, and once again, have re-entrenched our place as the greatest franchise of all time. The tension was palpable, but we hung on until the final ball and won!

It was written in the stars that the final frontier would belong to a certain man, but we have a gift to follow!  It just goes to show that even when all hope seems lost, the Chennai Super Kings will always prevail – just like the sun will rise tomorrow! And if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow, don't worry – CSK will find a way to make it happen!

We've made a habit of it, haven't we? Two league titles in three years is something to be proud of! Coming back from an awful season is something to be proud of! The eerie similarities between our previous two victories were to stick with the group that failed. It's like having a recipe for success: stick with the same ingredients and you'll end up with the same delicious dish. Following our dismal season in 2020, we retained most of our squad while bringing in a number of new signings, one of which was put into the starting XI. Moeen Ali was the only new player in 2021 compared to 2020, having risen from the bottom of the standings to win the title in the finals. This season was much the same, with the team supporting the squad that finished second the previous season. It was like a diamond in the rough, undervalued, and overlooked until its true potential was revealed, rising to the top to shine with its brilliance.

There's no shame in admitting that the Gujarat Titans were much better than us throughout the competition, but what's crucial is understanding that in any knockout game, figures and individual comparisons count for naught. Our players played the ball and not the bowler!  This is where cricket resembles real life in that every ball must be played on its merit. We kept to our beliefs and didn't try to change our ways. We lost the first game but found our best XI despite multiple injuries.  So, I suppose that's one way to keep your team in shape - keep getting injured!

2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023.

We can now lay claim to being the best IPL or even T20 franchise of all time, having equaled our archrivals Mumbai Indians in terms of championships. It is not only about a team's hit rate; our unrivaled consistency since the league's beginning should be noted. We qualified 12 times and reached the finals 10 times in 14 seasons. Talk about consistency. This is like a finely-tuned engine that has been maintained well over the years. No matter the terrain it traverses, it consistently performs at its peak and shows no signs of slowing down.

Thank you CSK.
